Backgrounds and objectives

  • Since the government declared “Low-Carbon Green Growth” as the national vision in August 2008, various policies and plans were established and have been implemented to realize the vision.
  • In order to promote the establishment of more efficient policies and plans that can contribute to achieving the vision of green growth, it is necessary to examine the current status of the green growth policies and plans and analyze their interrelationship.
  • This has led to the publication of Green Policy Map to provide an overview of the relations of the major green growth policies and plans.

Research subjects

With low-carbon green growth as national vision, the ‘National Strategy for Green Growth’ has been established as a comprehensive growth plan that creates jobs through economic progress in harmony with the environment, and develops future growth drivers

Five-Year Plan for Green Growth

A medium-term plan to build the foundation toward accomplishing the national vision for green growth, comprises of ten policy directions : efficient greenhouse gas reductions, zero fossil fuel reliance and increased energy independence, increased adaptability to climate change, development of green technologies into growth drivers, promoting green industry and conversion of existing industries into green industries, advanced industrial structure, establishing a foundation for green economy, developing green national territory and transportation, green revolution in everyday life, and becoming a global model case for green growth

The first legally enacted national plan of its kind for adaptation to climate change, one of the directions of the ‘Comprehensive Plan on Combating Climate Change’ announced in 2008. A rolling plan comprising of five-year plan in light of the uncertainty of the impact of climate change. Aims to aid in establishing a safe society and green growth through adaptation to climate change

Comprehensive Measure for National Standardization of Smart Grid (2010-2014) (Ministry of Knowledge Economy)

▶ To run the national standard system which covers from standard discovery to testing and certification by integrating national smart grid standard development and interoperability demonstration

Nationwide CCS Development Plan (2010-2020) (Ministries concerned)

▶ Established for participating international climate change mitigation activity and fostering CCS as new green growth power. 1) To develop innovative original technologies, 2) to promote commercialization for fostering CCS as a growth power in early stages, and 3) to construct groundwork of life-cycle environment management and commercialization, for commercializing plants and securing international technology competitiveness
